Adelaide’s Physio for Lifters & Gym Injuries
James brings over 20 years of experience in the fitness and performance industry, working with a wide range of clients from beginners to elite athletes across Australia and Canada. His background as a Personal Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach, combined with his formal qualifications — a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science (2019) and a Master of Physiotherapy (2022) from the University of South Australia — allows him to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and high-level performance.
James has worked across multiple sporting environments, including roles as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the North Adelaide Roosters U18s and senior SANFL squad (2012–2014), and with the Adelaide Crows development squad in 2019. These experiences, alongside thousands of hours coaching in gym, CrossFit, and gymnastics settings, have shaped his practical, results-driven approach to movement and performance.
He has a special interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with a strong focus on exercise-based rehabilitation and patient education. His treatment approach combines hands-on therapy, dry needling, and targeted strength programming — including Pilates and gym-based training — to deliver long-term outcomes, not just short-term relief.
James is recognised for his expertise in squat and deadlift mechanics, helping lifters identify and correct the underlying causes of pain, restriction, and poor performance. Whether you’re struggling with limited squat depth, knees not travelling forward, ankle or hip restrictions or back discomfort in deadlifts, James will break down your movement, explain the problem in simple terms, and provide a clear, structured plan to improve how you lift.
His approach goes beyond traditional physiotherapy — focusing on how your body performs under load, not just how it feels at rest.
James also delivers the clinic’s signature Form Check Analysis — a detailed assessment of your lifting technique, mobility, and control. This process identifies exactly what’s limiting your performance and provides a step-by-step roadmap to move and train with confidence.
Having worked with clients aged 5 to 85 — from complete beginners to elite athletes — James understands that every individual shares the same goal: to move better, perform better, and stay injury-free.
He believes that the best outcomes come from clear communication, education, and a collaborative approach, ensuring you fully understand your body and how to progress safely.
